REASONS A REVISED NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY MAKES SENSE:

  • Historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway becomes a multi-purpose community venue so that in addition to racing it can host other community events
  • Improves quality of life for the community in two major ways:
    • 1) Cuts the Speedway racing sounds in half
    • 2) Increases available parking on the Fairgrounds campus
  • Fewer days with race cars on the track  - better racing; not more racing:
    • Same 10-weekend race schedule with strict curfews and reduction of track testing days
  • Prioritizes the very important rich tradition of LOCAL RACING
  • This is a financially responsible partnership for Metro:
    • Shifts millions in overdue renovations and maintenance costs away from general taxpayers to BMS and facility users
    • BMS will be on the hook for daily operation cost; Metro will receive a percentage of all money generated on the property
    • A renovated Fairgrounds Speedway would generate $200 million yearly in economic impact for the local community (Source: Oxford Economics)
